MEET JUSTIN
Foundational Faith and Education to Public Service Leadership
Justin embarked on his educational and faith journey at Mount Saint Agnes Academy, where he graduated with honors in 2010. During his time there, he was honored to receive the Hero award, recognizing his dedication and exemplary achievements to helping others. This foundational education set the stage for his further academic pursuits.
Following his graduation, he moved to Halifax, Canada, to attend Saint Mary's University. There, he studied accounting and political science, disciplines that would later prove invaluable to further his pursuits into public service.
Justin is well versed in parliamentary rules and procedures and has studied political science (knows the importance and role of institutions within a democracy), has paid close attention, followed and listened to Parliament proceedings since 2003, has experience in debating from his time participating in the Bermuda Debate Society events in middle and high school, and his participation in Saint Mary’s University’s delegation at Model United Nations Conference in New York in 2016 where they won a Distinguished Delegation Award. The combination of these fields provided him with a unique perspective on the financial and political landscapes, equipping him with the skills necessary to serve the public efficiently and effectively.
After completing his university education in 2016, he began working at a local wealth management company. In this role, he advised clients on various financial solutions and helped manage their portfolios. This experience not only honed his financial acumen but also reinforced his commitment to public service through sound financial management and solution oriented advice to his clients.
The political tides turned in 2017 with the OBA’s election defeat. Seizing this moment as an opportunity for growth, he took a gap year from his professional career to focus on developing the youth wing of the party, the Future Bermuda Alliance (FBA). His efforts were instrumental in energizing and organizing the youth, laying a solid foundation for future political engagement.
His dedication and leadership were soon recognized and was appointed as a Senator in late 2017. His political journey continued as he ascended to the position of Chairman of the OBA. However, in 2018, he decided to step down from his role and began working at a local audit firm. He spent 3 years in the audit profession where he was able to successfully obtain his Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
In 2022, he returned to the investment sector, leveraging his comprehensive understanding of finance and accounting. Since 2022, he has been working as an Investment & Treasury professional within the International Business sector. This role has allowed him to apply his expertise on a global scale, contributing to the dynamic and ever-evolving world of international finance.
Outside his professional life, he has a passion for golf and enjoys participating in the Thursday night bowling league, where he serves as the secretary/treasurer. Music is another of his cherished pursuits; he enjoys participating in choirs and is a song leader at his family church, St. Patrick’s. These activities not only provide a balanced lifestyle but also allow him to connect with the wider community on both a personal and spiritual level.
His journey from lofty academic pursuits to public service and professional success reflects his dedication to continuous growth and community involvement. Each step has been a testament to his commitment to serving others, whether through politics, giving financial advice, servicing the faith ministry or through other personal passions.
